Interpretation
The standard half-life of voriconazole is 6 hours, with time to steady-state of 3 days.
Reference Intervals
Trough concentrations >1mg/L are effective for treating most fungal infections.
For prophylaxis, trough concentrations >0.5 mg/L are recommended.
Voriconazole toxicity is rare, though is more likely when plasma concentrations are >5 mg/L.
Patients with hypoalbuminaemia have a higher free voriconazole concentration for a given total voriconazole concentration.
Voriconazole inhibits the enzyme CYP3A4, increasing exposure to multiple other drugs metabolised by the same enzmye.
