Aliquot Instructions - Skin in normal saline. Transport to lab ASAP ambient or chilled.
Samples to be sent from outside of Christchurch need to arrive in Histology no later than the day following biopsy. Preference for biopsy to occur Mon-Wed to avoid specimen degradation.

Interpretation

Skin Biopsy – immunofluorescence
Demonstrates tissue bound immunoglobulin’s and complement components, fibrin related products and other immunoreactants. Provides confirmation of Bullous pemphigoid, Pemphigus vulgaris, Dermatitis herpetiformis.
