Preparation of washed red cells to be done within 48 hrs of collection:

Spin EDTA or Heparinised blood. Remove plasma and buffy layer. Add normal saline, mix packed red cells, re-spin, remove top saline layer. Repeat the above wash steps twice more remove saline and freeze packed red cells. Please state on form "washed RBC's "
