Neutrophil Oxidative Burst Measurement

Diagnostic Use

This method measures the ability of a patient’s neutrophils to produce superoxide and other reactive oxygen species following cell activation. Chronic granulomatosus disease (CGD) is a rare disorder caused by defects in the NADPH oxidase enzyme complex of phagocytes.

ESSENTIAL:
Contact IMMUNOLOGY laboratory prior to collection
Patient MUST NOT have an ongoing infection at time of collection
Sample MUST be tested within 24 hours of venipuncture
The sample MUST be received by the immunology laboratory between 8am - 2.30pm Monday to Thursday and by midday on Fridays
A control specimen MUST be included with specimens so that the effects of transport and storage can be ascertained.
Please NOTE if the laboratory is not given at least 24 hours notice that a sample is being sent then an urgent charge will be applied to this test.
This test is not offered as an urgent assay and will not be processed if received at the weekend.
