Fibroblast Growth Factor 23 (FGF-23)

Diagnostic Use

The FGF-23 assay may be used to investigate persistent unexplained abnormal phosphate metabolism.
FGF (fibroblast growth factor) 23 is involved in regulating phosphate balance.
Raised levels in serum are seen in oncogenic osteomalacia.

Requests for FGF 23 measurement will be vetted by a CHL chemical pathologist before being sent to Australia for testing.

The clinical indication for the test must be written on the request form.
Requests from Endocrinologists will be automatically approved.
