Diagnostic Use

Detection of polyploidy, in particular TRIPLOIDY, which is associated with partial hydatidiform mole.
This test will also detect trisomy 13, 18, 21 or sex chromsome aneuploidy.

The price listed is per probe set. Testing for 13, 18, 21, X and Y chromosomes involves applying 2 probe sets and will be billed accordingly.

Fresh tissue must be sent to Histology initially for preparation of FFPE tissue sections, ie. POC or Placental FFPE Slides
•3 x 2-4um FFPE slides plus corresponding H&E stained slide.
•The villus/placental areas should be clearly identified on the H&E slide by a pathologist.

Test Method

Fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) is applied to formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue slides, using for probes specific for chromosomes X, Y, 13, 18 and 21. At least 100 nuclei from multiple areas are analysed to establish chromosome copy copy number.
