Test Method
Bone marrow cells are cultured for 1-5 days, with or without lineage-specific stimulants to optimise specific cell growth (directed by clinical information provided). Subsequent harvesting of synchronised or unsynchronised cultures arrests dividing cells at the metaphase stage of the cell cycle when chromosomes are visible by light microscopy. Chromosome analysis (karyotyping) is then performed on G-banded chromosome preparations.
