Haemolysed, icteric and lipaemic samples unacceptable.
Plasma (EDTA inhibits ACE activity) samples are unacceptable.
Freeze sample if can not be analysed within 5 days

Interpretation

Increased levels are found in at least 80% of patients with lung or multisystem sarcoidosis, although are occasionally found in other grandulomatous disorders, eg tuberculosis, leprosy and may be found in hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus.
