Steady-state is reached after approximately 4 weeks.
Interpretation
- There is evidence for efficacy when 6-TGN is > 235 pmol/8×108 RBCs.
- Bone marrow suppression is more likely when 6-TGN is > 400 pmol/8×108 RBCs.
Where 6-TGN levels are < 200 pmol/8×108 RBCs, 6-Methylmercatopurine levels are reflex tested as an indicator of potential toxicity.
