Diagnostic Use

1,25 di-OH vitamin D is the active form of vitamin D, important for GI calcium and phosphate absorption. Measurement of this analyte may occasionally be useful in the investigation of PTH-independent hypercalcaemia, and in patients with renal disease.

1,25 di-OH vitamin D should not be requested for routine measurement of vitamin D status - instead request 25-OH vitamin D .

1,25 di-OH vitamin D is a sendaway test to Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology, Brisbane. Requests will be vetted by a chemical pathologist and will be rejected if insufficient relevant clinical information is provided.
