Urological (Genitourinary) Pathology

Urological (GU) pathology is the area of surgical pathology focusing on diseases of the urinary tract (kidney, ureters, bladder, and urethra) and the male reproductive system (prostate, testis, penis).  It encompasses a wide range of non-neoplastic and neoplastic disease processes.  The pathologists at Canterbury Health Laboratories have extensive experience in all of these areas and ready access to international experts if required.

Our specialist GU pathologists play an active role in Urology Multidisciplinary Meetings as well as contributing to the Christchurch Cancer Society Tissue Bank and a number of research groups.
