The Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Pathology team supports the Christchurch Hospital HPB service, receiving specimens from the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas.
Specimens range from biliary tract brushings, endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration samples and endoscopic biopsies, up to complex surgical resections of liver and pancreas.
Our Pathologists also participate in the weekly HPB cancer multi-disciplinary meeting where local and external pathology samples are reviewed.
