The Head & Neck Pathology team provides sub-specialty evaluation of biopsies and complex resection specimens related to disorders of the head and neck region, including oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, sinonasal cavity, ear, thyroid and salivary glands.
Intra-operative frozen section examinations are routinely performed for patients undergoing complex resections. When required, histological assessment is supplemented by the use of immunohistochemical stains, FISH studies and molecular testing.
The service is also actively involved in multi-disciplinary meetings with Head and Neck Surgeons, Oncologists, Dentists and Radiologists.
