Gynaecological Pathology

Gynaecological pathology covers disorders of the female reproductive organs (ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva).

Our Pathologists examine cervical smears, small biopsies and large tumour resections covering a wide range of cancer and non-cancer pathology involving the female genital tract.  Diagnosis is a collaborative activity and we maintain strong links with Christchurch Women’s Hospital, Colposcopy and our Family Planning and General Practice colleagues.

We provide support to clinical meetings such as the South Island-wide Gynae Oncology MDM, CWH Colposcopy MDM and Radiology correlation “Green spot” meeting.
